Kiama Council is committed to promoting diversity and fostering inclusion.

We’re currently seeking an enthusiastic person with a positive attitude to join our Parks & Gardens Team as a Horticulture Apprentice.

This is a temporary full-time position for the duration of the four year apprenticeship. 

The successful applicant will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment functional assessment and be able to commence TAFE soon.

What we offer...

  • Temporary full time position, 38 hours per week
  • Weekly pay in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award
    (your rate of pay will be dependent on your age and the highest year of school you completed)
  • Plus 11.5 % superannuation 
     

What you'll need to be successful in the role...

The successful candidate will be fit, healthy, keen and motivated to work and required to complete a three year course of study at TAFE as a part of the four year apprenticeship.

Duties will include preparation and maintenance of Kiama Council parks, gardens and sports playing fields and work with Council's Bush Regeneration team. 

The successful applicant will need to be reliable, hardworking and honest with good communication skills, enjoy working in a small team environment and be hands on with a can do attitude. 

A genuine desire to work in the horticulture industry and commitment to completing the full term of the apprenticeship is a must.
 

Pre-Employment Checks 

Your employment will be subject to a National Criminal Record Check and pre-employment medical to determine your suitability for employment.

All employees and other workers must uphold and promote safety and wellbeing for children and young people.
