The National Fire Industry Association of Australia (NFIA) has partnered with Skills SA to introduce the Women in Fire Protection Apprenticeship Program. An initiative aimed at encouraging women into the Fire Protection Industry in South Australia. Fire Protection is a growing industry, with roles across service and construction and is increasingly being recognised for its vital safety role.

No experience is required!

A Certificate III in Fire Protection will provide the knowledge and skills to:

• Read plans and calculate plumbing quantities

• Use plumbing hand & power tools

• Fabricate and install fire hydrant & hose reel systems

• Fit domestic and residential safety sprinkler systems

• Test and maintain fire hydrant & hose reel systems

• Complete work on small and large water services

• Weld with oxy-acetylene

• Install control valve systems

• Activate devices and local alarms

• Install special hazard systems

• Conduct functional water-flow testing

• Design pre-calculated fire sprinkler systems

• Prevent ozone depleting substances and synthetic greenhouse gas emissions
