The Opportunity -
Novaskill is currently partnered with a well-established local nursery to offer a Horticulture Traineeship, including training & ongoing mentoring from a welcoming team there to support your career building.
We're looking for those looking to start their traineeship!
You'll be completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Horticulture whilst gaining experience & developing relationships in the Nursery & Horticulture Industry.
Learnings -
- Recognise and name plants
- Identify and control weeds, pests and diseases
- Learn to propagate and grow your own plants
- Understand soil characteristics
- Operate basic garden machinery and equipment
- Plant trees, shrubs and other plants
- Follow Work Health & Safety (WHS) procedures
Outcomes –
- Techniques to look after your own garden
- An understanding of what it's like to work in the horticulture industry
- The skills and confidence to seek employment in the horticulture industry
- A strong pathway to continue your study and enhance your career opportunities
Apprenticeship Suitability Recommendations –
To succeed in this apprenticeship, we recommend you have –
- Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to use hand tools
- An interest in the horticulture industry
- A basic level of physical fitness
- Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Commitment to safety
About You -
- Energetic, punctual, and reliable
- Completion of Year 10 – as a minimum
- Demonstrated commitment to completing your study whilst balancing working
- Willing to work hard and complete the job
- Drivers Licence & Reliable Transport is a must
