This role must produce to a high production standard to meet the Company’s long-standing reputation in the market as a producer of high quality and highly reliable products. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • To gain and apply detailed knowledge of processes and procedures involved in the welding and the manufacture of Spitwater manufactured products in accordance with work instructions and training provided. • To read, understand and follow work instructions (written and verbal), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training documents and technical drawings provided. • To always maintain a high-quality standard of production, with an emphasis on minimising errors and waste. • To liaise with and follow directives from your Manager and to liaise with and follow directives/instructions from the section leading hand (where applicable) on day-to-day priorities. • To learn and use part numbers and descriptions for all items in production, and to correctly label manufactured items on completion. • To undertake quality control of items in production and recognise and report quality deviations/faults. • To carry out routine maintenance procedures on equipment/machinery as required in your section within your competency level and experience and to log such work as required. • To achieve production schedules and targets. • To promote teamwork and always display positive attitudes to your work. • To share information with colleagues in your section and others as required. • To comply with all company policies and procedures. • To participate in improvement activities and training when required. • To proactively participate and adhere to new production systems when implemented. • To liaise with the Leading Hand (where applicable) and Manufacturing Manager for stock items and consumables in priority for your section. • To report verbally and in writing any maintenance requirements of machinery / equipment as required to your Line Manager and/or via the appropriate systems. • To participate in reasonable overtime if requested by management during periods of high demand. • To always maintain a high level of housekeeping in your section. • To always maintain a high level of housekeeping in your section. • Adherence to manual handling training, practices, and procedures always. • To always maintain a high level of housekeeping in your section. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT • Welding machines and associated welding tools – Mig, Tig. • Oxy acetylene for heating steel. • Power/Air tools including cordless hand drills, grinders, sanders, die grinders. • Hand tools such as spanners, socket wrench, screw drivers, hex T-bars, metal files and hammers. • Crane operating with lift attachments. PHYSICAL ACCOUNTABILITIES • Ability to lift fabricated parts up to 25kg (most common weights 2kg – 25kg), from various heights between ground and waist level and carry approximately 1-2m in distance. • Capacity to continuously hold tooling whilst doing the job (welder handpiece, grinders etc.) for up to 1hr at a time. • Ability to manage body position to enable correct welding position. • Regular lifting bending and twisting (between 20 – 50 times), during most shifts. • Regular walking distances to get parts, move bays etc.
