Purpose of the Role:
To support the mechanical engineering operations within a service station environment by conducting tests, assembling and installing mechanical components, diagnosing faults, and assisting with the design and improvement of vehicle systems and workshop operations. The role will work under the direction of the Service Manager to ensure optimal vehicle performance and efficient service delivery.

Task & responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and performance tests on vehicle mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, fuel systems, and HVAC components.
- Assemble, install, and test new or modified mechanical parts, components, and tools used in vehicle repair and servicing.
- Assist in the selection and setup of workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery.
- Analyse mechanical faults using diagnostic software and recommend or implement appropriate repairs or modifications.
- Support the workshop with quality control checks to ensure completed work meets performance and safety standards.
- Estimate materials, parts, and time required for repairs and assist in managing job orders.
- Assist in modifying mechanical systems to improve performance or accommodate new technology (e.g., EV components, hybrid systems).
- Maintain detailed records of technical work, test results, modifications, and servicing logs.
- Liaise with technicians to interpret technical drawings and design specifications.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and vehicle servicing standards.
Qualification & experience
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent (international qualification).
• At least 3 years of experience in automotive servicing, diagnostics, and repair across multiple makes/models.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical system components, including powertrains, transmissions, and electric drive systems.
• Hands-on experience using diagnostic tools and workshop testing equipment.
• Ability to analyse mechanical data and interpret technical schematics and diagrams.
Desirable:
• Familiarity with electric vehicle systems (e.g., Tesla platform).
• Strong team coordination and supervisory capabilities.
