Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Procurement Manager to be responsible for the end-to-end performance of the procurement team in relation to Sourcing, RF(x), Evaluation, Subcontract negotiations and subcontract management. There will be a focus on WIN: WIN strategies and ensuring On Time, To Quality and Within Budget contracting for the business. Significant areas of focus for the role would include people management of a team responsible for the “cradle to grave” approach to Procurement consisting of Sourcing, Procurement and Sub-Contract specialists, Industry Development professionals and administration roles. The Procurement Manager is also responsible for collaborative development and implementation of strategies, continuous improvement, supplier selection, relationship management, supplier performance as well as ensuing that the business is up to date with market conditions and emerging technologies.
Please note, this role can also be based at our Avalon site but will need to be able to travel to our CBD office as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy:
Identify and deliver clear savings targets, ensuring they are tracked by business/project.
Ensure commitment and spend compliance tracking is well reported.
Procurement Competitiveness Capture:
Monitor the market, including key players, newcomers, economic evolutions, market or regulation constraints, innovations, and technology.
Provide insights on how products/projects could be more competitive through different suppliers, methodologies, and technologies.
Support the preparation of Make/Buy decisions to optimize business performance.
Governance, Leadership, and Performance Management:
Apply appropriate governance using processes, KPIs, and root cause corrective actions.
Manage a team of <7 procurement professionals, focusing on strong leadership of team leads and overall responsibility for a team of >14 personnel.
Develop and train the team.
Supplier/Acquisition Management:
Manage the performance of the supply base.
Negotiate supplier contracts and framework agreements in line with business strategies, supporting Project Managers.
Ensure legal compliance and support specific government requirements.
Understand and manage risks, opportunities, and Tier supply chain mapping to optimize business performance.
Identify suppliers requiring focused development actions and support the Supplier Development Team.
Qualifications:
Professional qualifications (CIPS, EIPM, CPIM, ISM, etc.) are desirable but not essential.
Degrees in International Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, or Engineering are desirable, coupled with other professional qualifications.
Skills and Key Attributes:
Ability to understand project/program business and customer needs and leverage the supply base to add strategic value.
Working knowledge of financial tools and techniques.
Proven ability to challenge and develop innovative supply chain/procurement solutions that add value to the business.
Experience in risk and opportunity management.
Strong contractual knowledge (especially framework agreements) and complex negotiation experience, including import/export considerations.
Experience:
Proven track record in managing complex procurement environments within manufacturing or the defence industry.
Strong project management and team management experience in an international organisation.
Skilled in procurement-based interactions with senior management.
Adept at working in cross-functional teams in procurement bids and/or project roles.
Successful delivery of complex supplier solutions.
Proficient in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM).
Competent in product policy management.
While experience in the defence sector is highly regarded it is not essential, we welcome candidates from other manufacturing/automotive adjacent industries to bring a fresh perspective to our business.
