As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for a hands-on and motivated Workshop Operations Assistant / Trade Assistant to join our team in Gisborne.

 About the Role

This position works closely with the Workshop Manager, supporting the servicing and maintenance of our extensive machinery fleet – from 20-ton excavators to specialist turf mowers and tractors. It's an excellent opportunity to develop your mechanical skills and build a career pathway within a supportive and experienced team.

Key responsibilities include:

Assisting in the servicing, repair, and maintenance of heavy plant and turf machinery.

Supporting troubleshooting and diagnostics to ensure efficient turnaround times.

Preparing parts requisitions to assist with workshop planning and repairs.

Assisting with equipment readiness for site deployment.

Receiving hands-on, practical training with opportunities to progress into field service work.  

Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone who’s practical, willing to learn, and thrives in a team environment. Ideally, you will have: 

  A view to commence or complete a Certificate III in a mechanical trade

  Previous experience in a busy heavy machinery workshop

  A current manual driver’s license (MR, HR or truck license highly regarded)

  Construction Induction Card (White Card)

  Plant operator tickets (desirable)

  Familiarity with basic hand tools and workshop procedures

  A proactive, reliable work ethic and good communication skills

  Strong safety awareness and willingness to follow OHS procedures
