Ri Engineering Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Welder (First Class) to join our dynamic team at our facility located in Whyalla Norrie, South Australia. This is a full-time position suitable for qualified applicants with demonstrated industrial welding experience.

 

About the Role

In this hands-on role, you will perform advanced welding and fabrication tasks both on-site and in our workshop, working with a range of tools and machinery to deliver precision metalwork for structural and industrial applications. You will also ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.

 

What You’ll Do

• Perform welding using Stick, MIG, and TIG methods

• Fabricate and assemble metal components from technical drawings

• Operate oxy gouging, plasma cutters, and workshop equipment (e.g., presses, shears, drills, bandsaws, rolls)

• Conduct inspections to verify that work meets specifications and quality standards

• Maintain tools and equipment, complete job records, and support workshop safety

• Participate in job planning, site setups, and shutdowns as required

 

What You’ll Bring

• AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or

• AQF Certificate IV, or

• At least 3 years of full-time relevant experience in welding and fabrication

• High proficiency in Stick, MIG, and TIG welding techniques

• Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and documentation

• Familiarity with workshop machinery and safe tool use

• Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities

• Demonstrated reliability and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

 

Licences and Compliance:

• Current Australian driver’s licence

• Forklift licence

• Confined space entry certification

• Completion of ASCO and Arrium departmental inductions (or ability to obtain)

 

Working Conditions

• Physically active role: lifting, bending, standing, tool use

• Work in workshop and outdoor environments, including heat, dust, and noise

• Must adhere to WHS procedures and wear PPE at all times
