REQUIRED SKILLS:- - AQF Certificate III for a Metal Fabricator and or Sheet Metal Trades Worker and or equivalent or relevant experience - At least 3 years experience in a sheet metal factory, with trades work - Fabricating, welding, producing various rainwater goods (downpipes, rainwater heads etc.) The Sheet Metal Trades Worker and Metal Fabricator will work Monday to Friday with a small team in the factory.

Task & Responsibilities

Responsibility:

Repair damage to metal, fibreglass and plastic body work on vehicles, and form replacement vehicle panels. Registration or licensing may be required.

Duties:

1. Assessing Vehicle Damage and Determining Repair Methods:

Inspecting vehicles for damage after accidents or collisions.
Evaluating the extent of the damage to determine whether parts can be repaired or need replacement.
Choosing the most appropriate repair method for each situation.

2. Removing Damaged Panels and Parts:

Removing damaged parts, such as doors, bumpers, hoods, and other body panels.
Using specialized tools, like hydraulic jacks or pulling devices, to straighten out bent frames or panels.

3. Repairing and Restoring Surfaces:

Filling depressions, dents, or holes with body filler, which is then smoothed using sandpaper or other abrasive tools.

4. Welding and Fitting Replacement Panels:

Fitting and welding new or replacement panels into place, ensuring that they match the vehicle’s original structure.
Ensuring the proper alignment and secure attachment of these panels.

5. Repainting Repaired Surfaces:

Using spray guns and other painting equipment to apply primer, paint, and finish to the repaired areas.
Matching the vehicle’s original paint color and ensuring a smooth, uniform finish.

6. Reassembling Vehicle Parts:

Reassembling all parts of the vehicle that were removed during the repair process.
Checking for proper alignment, fit, and function of these parts to ensure the vehicle is restored to a pre-accident state.

7. Testing for Safety and Quality:

Conducting tests to ensure that the vehicle is safe and all repaired components are functioning correctly.
Ensuring the repaired vehicle meets safety standards and is ready for road use.

Qualification & Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Certificate III (or equivalent), including at least two (2) years of on-the-job training,
OR Certificate IV, or at least three (3) years of relevant experience

Experience:

At least three (3) years of relevant experience.

Skills and Attributes:

Have experience working in a team environment on daily maintenance and repair schedules
Have adequate verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in metal shaping, welding, and fabrication techniques specific to heavy vehicles.
Solid understanding of frame alignment, and structural repair principles.
Effective communication skills for team collaboration and customer interactions.
Commitment to safety practices and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Familiarity with body filler application, sanding, and surface preparation for paint.
