Position Title: Fabricator/CNC Plasma-Press Brake Operator – Full Time Position

Reports To: Production Manager

Job Summary: 

The Fabricator is responsible for fabricating metal products, parts, and structures using various tools, machinery, and techniques and operating CNC Plasma and Press Brake. The position requires good technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to ensure that fabrication is performed according to specifications.
• Use hand and power tools, cutting machines, and welding equipment to fabricate metal products, parts, and structures.
• Layout and mark dimensions and reference lines on material using measuring and marking tools.
• Position, align, and fit components together using hand tools, clamps, and jigs to ensure a proper fit.
• Cut, shape, and bend metal sheets and plates to fabricate components and structures.
• Operate metalworking machines, such as shears, saws, and presses, to cut, bend, and shape metal components.
• Inspect and test fabricated components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Maintain fabrication equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Communicate with supervisors and other team members to report progress, issues, and concerns.
• Work collaboratively with other departments, including engineering, design, and quality assurance, to ensure that products meet specifications and requirements.

 

Qualifications:

• Successful Completion of Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welding)
• Experience in GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG, FCAW, SMAW Welding
• Experience welding mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

 

Critical Skills & Attributes:

• Minimum 6 years of experience in metal fabrication work.
• Proficient in using hand and power tools, cutting machines, and welding equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Knowledge of metalworking safety procedures and guidelines.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Familiarity with different types of metals and their properties.

 

Working Conditions: 

The Fabricator will be working in a manufacturing environment that can be noisy and dusty. The position may require occasional overtime to meet production deadlines. The role involves working on the factory floor, which may involve standing for long periods and working with heavy machinery. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.

 

Remuneration:

Standard Hours: 38 Hour Work Week

Base Rate $35 - $40 P/Hr based on competencies.
